Nynäshamn Municipality selects Shibuya as strategic IT partner
Starting in January 2027, Nynäshamn Municipality will have a single strategic partner for the operation, security and development of its digital environments. The assignment covers both mission-critical IT infrastructure and support for the municipality’s continued digital transformation, including future AI initiatives.
“We are very pleased to be partnering with Nynäshamn Municipality. This assignment goes far beyond traditional IT operations. The municipality was looking for a partner that could take clear end-to-end responsibility, coordinate the delivery and contribute to its long-term digital development. That is exactly the role we want to play and where we can create the greatest value,” says Christina Backlund Carlsson, CEO of Shibuya.
For Shibuya, the agreement marks an important milestone in the company’s focus on the public sector and strengthens its position as a partner to municipalities and other organisations with mission-critical requirements for IT, security and digital development.
A key part of the assignment is to establish clearer responsibilities and a more integrated delivery model. By consolidating several functions with one strategic partner, the municipality gains a single point of contact for IT-related matters, while its operations benefit from improved support and greater availability.
“We need a stable and secure IT environment, together with coordinated support that meets the needs of our operations. The new agreement gives us the foundation both to safeguard our day-to-day IT delivery and to continue developing our digital ways of working,” says Sven Elmqvist, Head of IT and Security at Nynäshamn Municipality.
In addition to day-to-day operations, Shibuya will act as an advisory partner in the municipality’s digital transformation. This includes support on strategic IT matters, the development of digital ways of working and future AI initiatives.
Shibuya is a Swedish-owned company with servers, operations and monitoring based in Sweden. This gives the municipality direct access to decision-makers, a high degree of control and a service delivery model that meets stringent requirements for security and availability.
