Safeguarded copies enable faster recovery after an attack
Shibuya is launching the Safeguarded Copy service, which involves copying valuable data to environments accessible only to specially authorised personnel. This allows organisations to recover more quickly following a cyberattack.
Cybersecurity is not only about protecting data assets and IT infrastructure from attacks, but also about ensuring rapid recovery of operations afterwards. By storing critical data in secure environments, separate from production data, recovery from incidents such as ransomware attacks becomes significantly easier.
“Cyberattacks are unfortunately a part of everyday business life. Having robust protection is essential, but minimising downtime and resuming operations quickly after an attack is just as important. Safeguarded Copy is an essential service for companies aiming to be resilient against cyber threats and reduce the impact of attacks,” said Christina Backlund, CEO of Shibuya.
That’s why Shibuya has developed Safeguarded Copy, a service that creates immutable backups which cannot be altered by external users or applications. This critical data is kept separate from the production environment and cannot be changed, deleted, or tampered with – whether by users, malware, or hackers.
A simple scheduling tool automates both the backup and recovery processes. When the data is needed, for example to restore a compromised production environment, only designated users, either individually or jointly using a Two-Person Integrity model, can access and manage the data. This ensures that the production environment can be restored quickly and securely, minimising both data loss and business disruption.
“Having a Safeguarded Copy in place when a cyberattack occurs makes a tremendous difference. How long can your company afford to be without its most valuable data and ability to conduct business?,” said Christina Backlund.
